- Scar Creams and Gels – Many of these products can be purchased over-the-counter without a prescription. They are made to raise the surface of pitted or indented scars, or to flatten and shrink those that are raised.
- Silicone Dressings – These products have been found especially helpful in diminishing acne scars. No one knows exactly how they work, but they seem to give more elasticity to the skin. Like IPL, this treatment is only recommended on those with fair skin and can result in permanent light spots in treated areas.
